I’m a Professor of Environmental History at the Universidade Federal de Rondônia, Brazil. My postdoctoral research at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia examines the construction of the legal and bureaucratic apparatus for environmental control, classification and hierarchization, during the Brazilian military dictatorship from 1964 to 1988. I seek to understand the relationship between authoritarianism, environment, law and developmentalism in the context of the modernization of capitalist relations in the Amazon, from the 60's onwards.
