I am a biogeochemist working within the conceptual framework of socio-ecology. Until now my researches have been mostly focused on agricultural and forestry ecosystems. I try to assess over long-time period (one century or more) how land use for food, feed and energy supplies shapes nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon fluxes and generate some sustainable or harmful impacts on the environment. I also investigate how these land use systems are related to certain socio-economic and historical contexts. I am interested in studies developing both interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks to understand interactions between societies and land use systems and practical methodologies to apply these frameworks. I would also be interested in modelling approaches to simulate carbon fluxes in managed terrestrial ecosystems such as cropland, grassland, forests or build-up areas.
